I am thrilled to show you a card we had previously made at one of my Card Buffet classes.
I switched up the coloring on this one, as I wanted to try the Stampin’ Blends on the Crumb Cake cardstock. I love the effect!! It is super easy to do and probably took less than 3 minutes to color the entire scene. You definitely want to add the color in layers when stamping on Crumb Cake. Make sure you let each layer dry before adding more color, since the initial color you see will not be the color it ends up once dried. As I was coloring in the breast of the bird with the Flirty Flamingo Light Stampin’ Blends marker, it looked a little beige and no pink was showing up. Once it was dried, it was the beautiful shade you see in my photo and only took 1 pass with the marker.
I am all about layering, it really makes a card pop!! In this case, adding the extra piece of Blushing Bride cardstock compliments the birds without being overwhelming. I chose to use my Stitched Rectangle dies for my layering on this card. I really like how the stitching gives an extra texture to the card. Speaking of texture, did you notice the texture on the extra piece of Vanilla cardstock? This is a great way to add some subtle dimension to a larger layer which would otherwise be plain, and does not take anything away from the focal point of the birds.
The ribbon detail is so easy and no need to be a ‘bow making expert’! Just take 2 small pieces of ribbon and tie a knot around the middle with a twine or metallic trim, as I did here. What a beautiful accent to finish off a cute card.
